Today we’re sharing two recipes as part of the A – Z Cooking with Kids Blog Hop. First up are these super easy (and a little bit lazy) S is for Sausage Rolls that we love to make for picnics, parties or just as an alternative to sandwiches for our lunch (don’t forget to check out our R is for Raspberry Cheesecakes as well).
- 4 good quality sausages
- Ready rolled puff pastry
- 1 beaten egg
How to make Super Easy Sausage Rolls
Firstly we spread out the pastry so we had enough to fit two sausages lengthways on each sheet and with room to roll them up and cover them fully.
Next G placed the sausages on top of the pastry and brushed the longer side with beaten egg lengthways (we’ve left this bit out before when we’ve had no eggs and they still came out just the same).
Next she rolled them up and brushed the tops again with the beaten egg.
As you need a sharp knife for the next part I did this as I don’t think G’s knife skills are good enough to be using sharp knives yet! I cut them into 12 sausage rolls and we placed on a baking tray in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for around 30 minutes or until they look golden and yummy!
We enjoyed this batch at the park, they were still warm when we got there was I had wrapped them in tin foil. We’ve never managed to keep any for the next day but I’m sure they would last well stored in an air-tight container.
