Last year for Valentine’s Day I set out some materials and let the Little Tots create their own cards with no input for me. It worked so well and the parents loved them so we’re doing it again this year. These easy valentine’s day cards for toddlers to make are so simple and looked beautiful.
To make these cards I simply laid out whatever Valentine’s craft items I had to hand with some glue and let them get creative. A list of what we used this year is below.
You will need:
- Pink card
- Red and pink glitter
- Heart stickers
- Different sized and coloured hearts
- Heart stamper
- Pink and red crayons, pencil and pnes
We’ve had this activity out twice this week and it’s been enjoyed by a 18month old, 20 month old and 2 year old. My own preschooler also enjoyed making these and was able to cut out some of her own heart and write the words in her card herself.
Apart from write names inside the cards (so I knew which card belonged to which Little Tot once dry) I stayed completely hands off for these cards and instead sat back and watched them design their cards.
I love watching the concentration that goes into picking up small items, mastering a glue stick or pencil and watching as they make decisions about where to place things.
As we had so many materials left they all wanted to make more than one card so some made a few more and some just wanted to make Valentine’s themed pictures which we’ve displayed on our notice board.
