Each month I make a new batch of playdough with the aim of incorporating it into whatever the Little Tots are showing an interest in at the moment. They’re all loving anything to do with under the sea at the moment so I made this Ocean Playdough to extend their fun and learning.

Ocean playdough

Using our easy no cook playdough recipe to whip up a batch of blue and yellow playdough adding real sand to the yellow one to give it a lovely gritty feel and silver glitter to the blue playdough to make it sparkle.

I then set it out with our Seaside Discovery Basket for an Invitation to Play that is still going strong now three weeks on.

Last week I also added some playdough mats printed from Twinkl which we haven’t used before. These were great for adding a new element to our playdough play and we’ve also used them with just pebbles and shells without the playdough.

There was lots of imaginative story telling going on during play and recreating scenes from some of their favourite books at the moment – Rainbow Fish, Commotion in the Ocean, Tiddler and The Very Silly Shark.

As well as using the playdough for sea and sand its also been ice-creams, cakes, soup and space rockets and planets. The two colours are starting to merge into a green shade now so might have to come up with a theme that needs green play dough for next month.
